"I'm Beautiful"
Bidisha Sengupta
When you said "I'm beautiful "
Awestruck my face stared at you ,for a while
The black girl ,the curly mane ,working in dust
The rejected heart once turned cold felt its warmth
It pumped slowly as you lift my face onto yours
Said my eyes "glow brighter than moon".
The old bones felt fresh with its warm blood flow.
We met silently at noon and night
When cloud was dark, days were light I felt God changed my plight
You fed my head with all glistening dreams of lamp that glitter with light.
I hold your hands my painful head buried in your chest I cried.
You were no Angel I thought
Your trust and love I only sought
You were the wolf pouncing the silence of night
Piercing my body and soul ,you left me aside
Never to come back
I felt I was still beautiful
I saw my severed head in my own blood pool
My soul cries no one hears or sees
I yearned for love ,but was fooled.
